Riding to Lynden to the Farm Festival

Beautiful countryside on a clear blue sky day in Washington.

The swamps, rivers, and lakes are all full after a full month of rain.

We stopped by the swinging foot bridge across the South Fork of the Stillaguamish River. Jordan Road is one of our favorite rides as it follows the river, winding between Granite Falls and Arlington.

We got to Lynden, WA, a small Dutch farming community near the Canadian border. It is about a 100 mile ride. Just perfect for a day trip.

As part of the farm festival, the parade included many huge farm implements whose function we could only guess. We got there at noon, and the parade continued for another half hour. It started at 10:30.

From our table in "Dutch Mothers" restaurant we watched the rest of the parade while we ate a very good "Dutch Rueben" sandwich and meatball soup.

  2. If you get the chance to go back to Lynden, you should try Jake's Western Grill. It is worth the 100 mile ride!

  3. Rosemary, beautiful countryside! Hubby and I also "ride" which makes the trip all that much more wonderful I think. I see you also live in GA part of the year... a bit closer to me than WA...you've picked to nice areas of the country to call home.
