Years ago, in one of our past careers, we did carving. We started with signs and then moved on to making benches. The original paint has faded so we began the big painting project of October with a background coat of stain.Even though the back of this one has a rotted area, the bench is structurally sound, so it got repainted.
I originally painted the flowers, but our neighbor, Gene, suggested the frame would look better in a contrasting color.I think he's right.... Now I just have to do the borders on one more bench, and then there are 3 more to paint. I started counting all the benches we had made, and I think there were about 20. We did nearly a hundred signs before we finished.
On to November and the tool shed building project.
Wow! Those are so beautiful! 20 of them? And all of those signs. You guys are amazing.
ReplyDeleteThanks, Linda! We sold a few out of a gallery in LaConner, and have given a bunch of them away. We spread signs from Washington to Georgia to Florida to nearly everyone we knew. We do tend to be a bit excessive. :)
DeleteHello, I'm just stopping by from Linda Reeder's blog. I was really impressed with your gorgeous bench. And you did 20 benches? That's a lot of work.
ReplyDeleteThanks for stopping by, Kay! When I try to count benches, I get to at least 20. We still have about a dozen of them spread around our property, so you have a place to sit and enjoy the woods when out walking. :) Several more need to be repainted, but they're holding up well after about 20 years.
DeleteBeautiful handiwork! You always seem to impress me! :-)
