Lake Placid, Florida

We decided to start the new year right with a motorcycle ride.  This time we headed into the middle of Florida to the Lake Placid area.  There are several lakes clustered together just north of Lake Okeechobee.
One of several pothole lakes that surround Lake Placid, Lake Clay, and Lake June.
Many canals connect the lakes and provide access to the lakes from property not directly on a lake.
Motorized craft are allowed on the larger lakes, and public launch areas provide access at several spots.
Many fishermen, jet skis, and water skiers were on Lake June today.  It is always amazing to us to be in shorts and swimming outside on a sunny day in January.
Several buildings in town sport huge murals.  A book containing pictures of all the murals and clues to hidden images in the murals can be purchased for $3.
If you want a bird's eye view of "Lake Placid, the Calladium Capital of the World", you can take the elevator to the top of the tower.
